ADOBE ILLUSTRATOR CS5 TUTORIAL: LINE ART

I really wanted to post this like five months ago. Kaya lang nadelay is because I am having problems uploading images here and it sucks!

Bear with me because I am freakin' tired and it's 2:29 in the morning. I still have the energy to post this tutorial and I apologize about its quality. People, another lesson I learned today: DO NOT CREATE TUTORIALS WHEN YOU ARE HALF AWAKE!

ICED MOCHA COFFEE + KNOWING OTHER PEOPLE = BETTER!

And yeah, finally: I had a better Balsa sa Niugan experience. It is not one of those happy inuman sessions with my friends. It's just a coffee slash kwentuhan experience with my office friend, Nads. The only reason why we had coffee is that sabi ko, pakakantahin ko sya kaya ko sya bubusugin. Hahaha! True enough, I wasn't disappointed. Thanks to our punk office friend, Papa E for letting my curiosity explode earlier this afternoon. Bravo!

There are things I realized on our highlighted conversation: to enjoy every minute of your life while it's still there. (It's also a good thing that I get to know other people and their experiences. It is not something that's real scary pala.) I raise my glass to those people who can stand bad things in their lives and -- move on with a smile.

Why is it that everyday, I get to realize that life is still fair after all? Why do people end their lives because of their heartbreaking experiences when in fact, there are little things worth living for? Sometimes, I don't get it. And yes, I am strangely aroused on the idea that some people are just open minded. Why can't I? When will I be?

I can't help myself to air it all out once again. Because really, it is not everyday I get to know a person over a cup of coffee. And trust me, it is better than spending a fortune on a case of beer and nuts.

HAIL, HAIL TO MY GOOD FRIENDS!

I have a "love-hate-relationship" with the word SURPRISE.

I received a message from my Novartis friend, Tin. Her exact text goes:

[ Di, may gift kami ni Ma'am Adora sa'yo. Kunin mo na lang kay Ate mo. Sana magustuhan mo.] and then I replied:

[ Uy salamat. Ano yan? Ayoko ng surprises kainis. Hehehe, ano yan? Basta galing sa inyo, gusto ko.] Then, a few replies followed by Tin:

[Ok lang yun. Love ka namin eh.]

Aside from I love receiving surprise gifts, (please take note that what I meant by surprise is not really telling me at all) I love that they still remember me despite the fact that I am not employed at Novartis for three months now. Pero nagkikita naman kaming tatlo if time permits. Like last Saturday, we went for a cheap-movie viewing at SM Manila for 15 pesos. And the movie wasn't bad at all. Better than Resident Evil 4 I say. It's a Bruce Willis film, RED (Retired Extremely Dangerous). Maganda, at super hindi boring! Mga mall rat kami that time, and yes, we celebrated Ma'am Ado's 39th birthday. Matanda na sya, oo na.. Actually, it's a lot better if I rephrase it to: she's 14 years older than me! Hooray! Hehehe..

I think, they are the best officemates and friends from Novartis, 2010. They are gays! Not literally but they never fail to give me great laugh(s). Really. I love people who can make me laugh. I love receiving free hugs, and free chocolates: optional.

I am just grateful that I have these people in my life. And from time to time, I get a few hugs from my friends in MFC.

And just today, Ms. Eden texted me saying: Magkita kami sa North tomorrow with Tina and Mark siguro. What a sweet day..

MY FIRST EVER SERIOUS-CORPORATE PHOTOSHOP ENTRY

Wag makialam, this is the first time I made an original layout using Adobe Photoshop. Hehehehe. It's not good compared to other kick-ass artist, but there ARE always room for improvement.. Kind of like, fulfilled. Because you see, I feel uneasy using this software. I feel like it's not roomy compared to Adobe Illustrator and Corel Draw. BUT THAT is in my honest opinion. I personally don't like the grayish area. And recently (thanks to Toti) I discovered that I can press the keyboard shortcut F and Tab to make use of the whole "artboard" and drag myself around it pretty much.

I used in here are the effects I recently learned from Toti and this I say, rocks!

1. Stroke Effect

3. Drop Shadow and

4. Inner Shadow

It's really good to learn something from your work and everyday is a learning process. I feel like posting tutorials from here on, to share cool stuffs I learned from the people I look up to.

Designing can yeah, pretty common nowadays. Everybody can do it. Especially now that there are online applications offered by some genius developers. Grade Schoolers can design their Facebook profile pictures within a little time too.

Patience, practice and passion will make you better and better and better and better. I will always remember the 3Ps. Or the Paprapa! Naaaah, I made that up, just kidding. Hehehe.

I am not right THERE yet. I am still far from being perfect at Photoshop and for being super illustrator. But I will get there.. I will. In God's time.. :)

I SUCK TODAY!

I suck at conceptualizing today. I am literally stressing my sissy ass out! I ended up eating two bags of chicaron, cheese sandwich, lipton red tea and pillows (that darn biscuit covered chokweet) during merienda. Silly reason of my wittle stress? T-shirt design for Mega Dominate Business Review. I don't usually fall on a booby trapped blankness during rush. For some stoooopid reason, I stare at my monitor for a minute before I create an inch of path in my artboard.

I should yeah, probably get back to sketching. Maybe it'll help my stiff mind back to the creative world. Congratulations to me for staying in my cyber world! Yipee! Happy one year of blogging to me! (Maarte lang, singit lang) Medyo matagal na pala akong hindi nagssketch o nagkoconceptualize. Ganon pala yun: pag matagal ng wala, hindi mo namamalayan nawawala din pala o nababawasan.

Ayun, one thing I learned from designing for the corporate world: The simple, the better. It makes a lot of sense to me now. I am not employed to some advertising company or freelancing now. Stress is different here.

INVADING WEB LAYOUT: BATIBOT STYLE

This is my first time to design a web. Not technically. It's basically a job request by MFC VP. Nothing serious. Concept lang naman. I played more on illustration and colors. Regi contributed the idea of the TV and sun. Very cool stuffs. Very Batibot. Now, I am thinking of creating stuffs with pastel colors.

O_O

I hate it when I am in a middle of my creative drunkenness during the night and suddenly, just when I was about to blow my full creative power, time's up you poor little girl, it's time to go home! Darn.

LSS: CRAWL! ABS CBN TRADE SHOW AT PICC

LSS tayo p're!

Last December 2, 2010, we went to ABS CBN Trade Show Forum at PICC with MFC Creative and Marketing Department. It's really fun, though hindi ko masyadong naenjoy ang food. They were there to introduce ABS CBN's new shows. Ang cute nga e. To make the story short, we registered. I was given a 2x5 card that says: "you are entitled for one parol, blah-blah", a 3D glass, and an ABS CBN pamaypay. I like the 3D glass. I was excited about the glass, and to my dismay: I lost it at the end of the show! Hahaha! I don't care about the parol. But well, I still manage to get one and as usual, made its way to my back pocket. Later on, Gi asks for it, I gave it to him na lang.

We went inside, hinanap ang table 54. We ate and chat a little then nagstart na ang show. I am not really interested to see ABS CBN's artist, (blame it on the food!) but since I cannot munch as planned, I got up my feet went near the stage and started shooting.

Erich and the gang from Shoutout was there. Iya, Echo, KC, Vice, Kim, Gerald, James Reid, Ivan, The Hitmakers, Anne Curtis, Melai & Jason, etc. But the best performance goes to Iya and Echo! Their music caught me off guard. I've been trying to search for it on the net since Friday and hindi ko makita. I asked Iya personally through Twitter, sumagot naman sya. And yes, yan na nga. Crawl by Chris Brown. Ang ganda ng sayaw nila. Plus her moves, big factor! OMG! Super.. If not about her skin and face na gusto kong maidocument sa camera, I probably should have watched her on the dance floor.

I ended up having my parol c/o S' Raffy.

Hey God, I know you are listening..

Thank you for your extra kindness. You love me, and my family. And I love you. I am saying this prayer in public because yes, I want them to know that you are there always. It's my own way of saying thank you. :)

Even if there are people judging me by comparing me to their daughter abroad, I don't care. I am better. I am happy because I know I am on the right path. So what if I am here in Manila and decided to pursue what I love? So what if I am not working at a central business district? What difference does it make? I wake up, I travel, I work, I eat, I go home.. Mas mura ang pamasahe ko. Hahaha! Diba Lord? And thank you for making me realize that I went to an excellent institution with the right attitude..
